I was in a Van Halen mood over the weekend and stumbled on this site with some great, albeit poor quality, old videos of them:

Check out Ice Cream Man for some serious David Lee stupidity and Hang Em High for speed rock. Michael Anthony is a great bassist and backup singer and Eddie is incredible. As much as DLR gets goofed on, the band is just so hot. There is a classic interview in Japan on the home page of the site, too.

Outside of his personality, Dave could belt out some hard rock, that's fa damn sure. That first album is some rrrraw shit..Atomic Punk!

I wish I had seen 'em back in the day. But I know every song of the Dave era cause they were all great tunes to drum to. Alex was never in danger of being overrated, but I don't think he's given his due as an influence on young drummers.

Link Wray Dies in Copenhagen Updated 09:10 PST Mon, Nov 21 2005 (Associated Press) Guitar master Link Wray, the father of the power chord in rock 'n' roll who inspired such legends as Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie and Pete Townshend, has died. He was 76. Wray died November 5 at his home in Copenhagen, his wife and son said on his Web site. No cause of death was given, but his family said his heart was "getting tired." He was buried November 18 after a service at Copenhagen's Christian Church. "While playing his guitar he often told the audience, 'God is playing my guitar, I am with God when I play,'" his wife, Olive, and son, Oliver Christian, wrote.
